Timmy Thompson Passes Away
Oct 30, 2016

Teamsters Local 89 is deeply saddened to announce the passing of retiree Timmy Thompson. Timmy passed away this morning. According to Teamsters 89 Secretary-Treasurer John Bolton, Timmy was an extremely caring and loving husband and father. His two sons, Bill and Brian, are Teamsters today in the Carhaul division.

Timmy was a Business Agent at Teamsters 89 from August of 1990 to September of 1999 when he retired. According to Bolton “He oversaw negotiations and arbitrations with a great amount of skill. Timmy prided himself on not only doing a good job, but doing so while very seldom ever needing help. He always fought hard for his members. That sounds cliché, but it’s absolutely true.”

Timmy was also a dedicated Democrat, and was very well known in the Democratic party here in Louisville, and throughout the state.

We do not yet have information on Timmy’s funeral arrangements, but this post will be updated as soon as we are able to obtain those details.

The officers, agents, and staff of Teamsters Local 89 wish to express our deepest sympathies to Timmy’s family in their time of mourning. We also wish to express our gratitude for the years of dedicated service he gave as a leader. It was people like Timmy who made us the great union we are today, and the impact he had on his Teamster brothers and sisters will live on forever.
