UPS FREIGHT WORKERS RATIFY
MASTER AGREEMENT
The Members of UPS Freight in Louisville & Bowling
Green overwhelmingly ratified a Master Agreement on Sunday April 6,
2008. In Louisville the agreement was passed with a vote of 65-11 & in
Bowling Green the count was 16-1. UPS Freight Members from different
locations all across the country voted over the weekend on this Master
Agreement; once ratified this agreement was to take effect at Midnight
on Sunday April 7th and UPS Freight Members will finally
become Teamsters. This has been a long hard battle for the Members which
have worked under many different companies since the fight to organize
them began originally with Overnite Freight. Local 89 would like to
welcome all of our new Members and thank them for their continued
support throughout this battle.

Members Overwhelmingly Ratify National Master Freight Agreement
By a 2-1 margin, Teamster freight members ratified the 2008-2013
National Master Freight Agreement which protects existing Teamster
jobs, maintains strong wages and benefits and job security.

UPS Freight Talks Continued Week of August 27
With momentum on their side, Teamster
negotiators returned to the table with UPS Freight during the week
of August 27 in Indianapolis, and rank-and-file members played a key
role in the talks.

Freight Change on Filing Grievances

Freight Member:
This letter is to inform you that any and all protest
pertaining to warning letters, suspensions and discharges
under Article 46 of the Central Region Over the Road and
Local Cartage Supplemental Agreements will no longer be
protested on behalf of the member by the Local Union
effective November 1, 2005.
This is pursuant to the National
Grievance Committee interpretation on the record in case
N-9-94-C33. The member must file a timely written protest
under the provisions of the applicable supplement, or the
warning, suspension or discharge shall stand. If you have

USF Holland Road Driver Receives Back Pay

On September 14th the Joint Area Committee in Chicago awarded Wayne Watkins a large back pay settlement.
In January 2003 Watkins,
a six year driver at USF Holland, had a heart attack while on a lay down run in Birmingham, Alabama. in March, 2003 he received an ICD,
afterwards the company took the position that the ICD would disqualify a driver under the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA)
rules and regulations. After extensive research, Local 89 discovered that the Iced does NOT disqualify a driver under the FMCSA rules
and regulations -- that it is only a recommendation and not the law. As a result, the JAC, chaired
