KENTUCKY DISTRIBUTION CENTER (TRANSERVICE &
ZENITH)
After a Strike that began on Wednesday, with the workers walking off
the job and many long hours of negotiating the Members at Transervice &
Zenith Logistics have ratified new agreements. The workers are to return
to work on their normal schedules.
The
job security that all the members
were concerned with has been achieved.
The vote totals are as follows:
Drivers & Garage – 163-0 (Unanimous)
Warehouse – 234-34

Showing what can happen
with unity in the workplace and a strong union contract, a 22 year
member with a perfect flawless record was unjustly terminated. Using the
power of the collective bargaining agreement, the member was reinstated
to his job with no loss in seniority. The victory was made
possible through the hard work of Chief Steward Pam Vaughn, Stewards
Donna Mudd and Wayne Hagan, and members Mark Blanford, Kevin Smith and
Keith Blandford. Great Job!

Effective, August 7th, I became the
Business Agent at Caesar's, and look forward to representing all of our
hard-working members. I hope to continue the same level of service
started by Kevin Evans. As I make my rounds, I look forward to meeting
and getting to know everyone.

Local 89's current
contract with FireKing expires this October. The Union has sent contract
survey proposals to the membership to gain their insights prior to the
upcoming talks. Please take the time to fill these out and get them
turned back in to your stewards. I will send out a meeting notice in the
very near future. I look forward to working with the stewards and the
members on the upcoming contract.
