On Saturday, September 19th a contract explanation meeting and vote was held for members at Android Industries in Bowling Green, Kentucky. At the conclusion of the explanation, members voted unanimously to ratify the strongest agreement in their shop’s history.

GENEVA – In a letter addressed to Michael Reich, CEO of DSI Underground headquartered in Munich, Germany, IndustriALL Global Union has called on DSI to enter into good faith collective bargaining with Teamsters Local 89 in Louisville, Kentucky.
We are happy to announce Brian Hamm as the new Recording Secretary for Teamsters Local 89!
Brian, a third-generation Teamster after his father and grandfather, became a member of Local 89 in 1986 when he began working at the newly created UPS Louisville Air Hub. At UPS, Brian worked as a marshaller and served as a steward for thirteen years, beginning in 1990.
We are pleased to announce Jeff Cooper, better known as “Coupe” by his friends and members, as the new Vice President for Teamsters Local 89!
Prior to becoming the Vice President, Jeff served as a Local 89 Trustee from 2010 to 2014, when he became Recording Secretary.
Jeff has a long history with Teamsters Local 89.
We are proud to announce the recently formed Teamsters Local 89 Women’s Committee has created a COVID-19 Crisis Fund. The purpose of this fund is to provide groceries and household items to members who have tested positive for COVID-19 and are in need assistance for themselves or their families.
Apr 13, 2020 - It is with heavy hearts that we confirm the tragic passing of a Teamsters Local 89 member at UPS Worldport who had been off of work since April 1st. This sadly marks the first member of our Local Union who has lost their life to the COVID-19 pandemic that is sweeping our country.
In order to protect our union members during the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have communicated ALL employee concerns brought to our attention to the Company. The Company had already put measures in place for the safety of our employees and in addition addressed the concerns that were brought up by Local 89 members.
TeamCare Layoff Benefits
We have been informed by the IBT that the TeamCare Board of Trustees have approved a plan amendment granting up to eight weeks of TeamCare Layoff Coverage at no cost to members who are laid off between March 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020.
This is an issue that many Local Unions across the country, including Teamsters Local 89, have been asking TeamCare to address.

The Teamsters Local 89 Executive Board has passed a resolution calling for all employers to provide paid sick leave for workers who do not currently have it, enhance health and safety procedures, provide more open information to workers, and provide increased compensation as a show of appreciation to the essential workers who are keeping America running during this crisis.
