Louisville Packaging Teamsters Vote to Accept 2013 Contract
Members at Louisville Packaging voted Tuesday, May 14th, to accept a new three-year agreement. The new contract includes significant wages increases, additional personal days, and cost savings on insurance.

2013 Teamsters Local 89 Scholarship Application Available
Applications for Local 89 scholarships for sons and daughters of ACTIVE members of the local union are now being accepted.
Five scholarships will be awarded to male students and five scholarships will be awarded to female students. Each scholarship is for the sum of $1,000.

Teamsters at MAHS Accept New Three-Year Agreement
On April 29th, Teamsters at MAHS in Bowling Green voted to accept a new three-year agreement which contains good raises as well as an additional personal day and extra week of vacation. Members will also retain insurance benefits through the end of the month in the case of temporary shut downs at the Corvette Plant.

Fire King Teamsters Accept 2013 Agreement
At a meeting today at Teamsters Local 89, Fire King Teamsters voted overwhelmingly to accept the proposed 2013 contract. The newly ratified four-year agreement includes cost protections on health insurance, increases in the hourly rate, and other improvements including an “emergency” vacation day and an optional “buy-out” of a vacation week.

IMI Scottsburg, Salem, Madison Agreement Ratified by the Membership
IMI members have voted 8-2 to accept the new agreement covering Scottsburg, Salem and Madison locations. Among other gains, the new three-year contract contains wage increases, preservation of healthcare benefits, and needed changes to work rules among other gains.

Benefit for Greg Argo
A benefit will be held for Greg Argo, Husband of Local 89 staff member Janice Argo, this Saturday, March 16 at 11am. Greg was born with Cystic Fibrosis and has struggled with it most of his life. He is now on a list for a double lung transplant.

Cornhole Tournament Hosted By National Black Caucus
The Local 89 Chapter of the National Black Caucus will be hosting a Cornhole Tournament on Saturday April 13 at 2:00 pm. The event will be held at Teamsters Local 89 (3813 Taylor BLVD, Louisville, KY 40215). Registration will start at 12 noon.
The entry fee is $25 with three cash prizes which will be determined on the number of entries. Food will also be sold at the event.

UPDATE: Louisville Air Supplement Negotiations--Feb. 15, 2013
UPDATE Feb. 15, 2013:
The negotiating committee for the 2013 Louisville Air Supplement met with UPS officials today to discuss a range of proposals including transfers, double-shifting and vacations.
Talks continue to move slowly with the company devoting little time to "face-to-face" meetings with the union.

JUDGE ISSUES RULING IN NLRB CHARGE AGAINST UAW LEADERSHIP AND FORD CONTRACTOR -ILLEGALLY DISPLACED EMPLOYEES TO BE RETURNED TO WORK WITH FULL BACK PAY AND BENEFITS
On December 21, 2012, Administrative Law Judge Bruce D. Rosenstein of the National Labor Relations Board issued a Decision & Order against Voith Industrial Services, Inc. (a Ford Motor Co. contractor), the United Auto Workers (Detroit, MI), and United Auto Workers Local Union No. 862 (Louisville, KY). Judge Rosenstein found that Voith, UAW, and UAW Local Union No. 862 had engaged in a number of unfair labor practices at Ford’s Louisville Assembly Plant including the denial of workers’ rights under the National Labor Relations Act.

Ryder Truck Rental Bluegrass Agreement Unanimously Accepted
Workers at Ryder Truck Rental’s Bluegrass Park Location voted unanimously (8-0) Feb. 2, 2013 to accept their first agreement since voting to join Local 89 in August 2012. The three-year agreement includes (among other gains) significant wage increases, premium pay language, shift differentials, sick-days, and tool insurance, along with bereavement, jury duty and “on call” pay.

Nugent Sand Teamsters Approve Contract 10-2
Nugent Sand Teamsters have ratified their 2013 contract in a 10-2 vote. The new agreement includes improvements to the members‘ no-cost Central States health insurance and increases in retirement through a 100% contribution to the 401k plan.
In addition, wage increases were gained along with additional opportunities for time off.

Prescotech Teamsters Vote to Accept 2013 Agreement in 27-1 vote
Prescotech Teamsters ratified their 2013 agreement on Jan. 28, 2013 in a 27-1 vote. Long-time Local 89 business agent and former trustee Chuck Priddy passed away last Saturday. He leaves behind wife Celia and three children including Local 89 staff member Kim Wolfe, son Chuck Priddy and daughter Paula Keiran along with daughter-in-law Gina Priddy and son-in-law Steve Kieran.

Members Overwhelmingly Accept 2013 Zenith Agreement in 222 to 17 vote!
Zenith Teamsters overwhelmingly accepted the proposed 2013 agreement in a 222 to 17 vote. The contract provides for six years of job security, $3.01 in raises over the life of the agreement, and “buybacks” for attendance and standards. Workers will also continue to enjoy free healthcare and pension throughout the agreement.

2013 Jeffboat Contract Approved by Membership!
Teamsters voted nearly 10-1 today to accept the proposed 2013 Jeffboat agreement. The vote was 411 members voting “for” and 43 voting “against”.
The new contract includes improvement in wages, protection of current healthcare benefits, along with additional pay for temporary transfers, double-time for holidays and call-in pay.
