To Teamsters Local 89 Carhaul Members,
In response to my previous letter to General President Hoffa about the incomplete nature of the NMATA Tentative Agreement information given to Local 89 for disbursement to you, the members, I received a directive to refer to a revised online Summary that supposedly corrected these problems. This new summary, unfortunately, still fails to address the issues I had asked for clarification on.
With full and accurate information still not being provided by the IBT, and after this Sunday’s meeting where you all expressed your dissatisfaction with the Carhaul Tentative Agreement by unanimously agreeing to reject it, I have sent a second letter to General President Hoffa. I have once again demanded that the impending ratification vote be postponed until such a time as the Carhaul members who’s livelihoods this contract effects can receive an adequate explanation of the changes.
As it stands, the membership of Local 89 believes this new agreement to be concessionary, and an unjustifiably rushed vote before all our questions can be properly addressed only serves to further aggravate the situation.
Fraternally,
Fred Zuckerman
President – Teamsters Local 89
