Mason's Jar
Feb 06, 2017

Dec 16, 2016

Teamsters at UPS Campbellsville have rallied around a young boy named Mason Biggers this holiday season. Mason, the four-year-old nephew of part-time UPS supervisor Laura Hedgespeth, touched many hearts at this small UPS center when a prayer group in the building, led by UPS Package Car drivers, learned he was in a battle with cancer.

Mason was symbolically adopted by the center, and a large jar, dubbed “Mason’s Jar” was set up for Teamsters and Management alike to put money into. $1903 dollars have been raised so far according to Terry Daffron (pictured holding the jar below), the package car driver who alerted his Teamsters Business Agent, James DeWeese, to this story.

Acts of kindness such as this are the very heart and soul of the Teamsters union. Unions, at our core, are simply groups of hard-working men and women who come together to help lift each other up in times of need. Teamsters 89 applauds the efforts of these amazing brothers and sisters in the UPS Campbellsville center for their great act of kindness, and wish Mason a speedy recovery.
