Teamsters voted nearly 10-1 today to accept the proposed 2013 Jeffboat agreement.  The vote was 411 members voting “for” and 43 voting “against”. 

The new contract includes improvement in wages, protection of current healthcare benefits, along with additional pay for temporary transfers, double-time for holidays and call-in pay.  In addition, December bonuses will be paid out over the course of the five-year agreement totaling over $3000.  Work hours have also been capped at 12 hours to address safety concerns and the need for time away from work. 

The acceptance of the agreement brings greater job stability to Jeffboat Teamsters by attracting more business while providing the benefits, pay and working conditions workers expect in exchange for their hard-work and dedication. 

Local 89 would like to thank all those who participated in this important vote for the future of all their fellow members and their families.  Please take the opportunity to thank your negotiating committee for all their hard-work and commitment in delivering a contract for their Teamster brother and sisters.
