On Friday, September 23rd members at Canteen Vending ratified a new three-year agreement by a margin of seven for and one against.
This new agreement includes major improvements to members’ insurance. Previously these members were covered by a company plan, but going forward they will be covered by the MM9 TeamCare plan. This will cause a moderate increase in weekly healthcare costs, but will greatly increase their coverage, leading to overall savings.
Multiple improvements were made on wages, including significant hourly increases over the life of the contract, and an increase for commission work.
President Zuckerman and the Teamsters 89 officers wish to express their thanks to Business Agent and Negotiations Chair Roy Reynolds, as well as steward Joann McClain and committee member Vince Loveall for their hard work and dedication to improving the lives of their fellow members.
