On September 23rd Teamsters Local 89 members at Canteen Compass unanimously ratified a new three-year agreement.
Economic highlights of the new agreement include improved commission rates, faster vacation accrual, two additional paid holidays, a higher shift premium, improved holiday pay, higher hourly rates and improved pay on Saturdays and Sundays. TeamCare health insurance was maintained with a small $5 dollar per week increase in employee contribution.
In addition, several non-economic items were addressed including new hire orientation language, equipment improvements and a new utility position to help improve service from the Company at UPS Worldport.
“The feedback from our members at UPS Worldport helped show the Company the problems in service they had,” said Business Agent Bill Miller. “That gave us the leverage we needed to force them to improve compensation, working conditions and to hire more employees.”
Special thanks to Steward Joe Wolz who served on the union bargaining committee, as well as Business Agents Trey McCutcheon and General Counsel Cody Hibbard who assisted in negotiations.
From President Thompson, Secretary-Treasurer Cooper and everyone at Local 89, congratulations to our members at Canteen Compass on their new agreement!
