STRIKE CALLED AT CAESARS SOUTHERN INDIANA

PICKET LINE TO BEGIN WHEN CASINO REOPENS FROM FLOODING

Saturday, April 12th, 2025 - After several months of negotiations and a month since our contract formally expired, the Teamsters Local 89 bargaining committee gave Caesars Southern Indiana and their Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) owners a deadline of noon today to agree to the contract our members deserve.

Sadly, neither Caesars Southern Indiana nor EBCI chose to respond, and in failing to do so they actively made the decision to put themselves on strike through their lack of care and respect for the workers who make them the most profitable casino in the state.

Caesars Southern Indiana has been temporarily closed due to flooding from the Ohio River but they are expected to reopen any day now. Whenever the reopening happens, there will be a Teamsters picket line in front of their property the moment it does.

It is important for us to note that neither Teamsters Local 89 nor our members wanted this strike. None of our members’ demands are unreasonable, such as having the ability to one day retire with dignity. The Company could easily afford to give our members the contract they want, they simply chose not to. This strike is a direct result of the Company’s greed, lack of empathy, and the unfair labor practices they have committed since the contract expired.

We are calling on all union members, allies, supporters, and the community at large to stand with our members by refusing to cross our picket line and to boycott Caesars Southern Indiana until the strike has ended.

To all our members, Teamsters Local 89 has your backs. Your fight is a righteous one, and our entire union will provide you with the resources you need to win. As long as you remain determined and united, you cannot be defeated. Stand your ground, hold your heads high, and fight for what you deserve. We are going to win this fight no matter what it takes.
