Feb 11, 2017 - Teamsters Local 89 is deeply saddened to announce that retiree Tom Trenaman passed away Saturday night at the age of 73. Tom was a Business Agent at Teamsters 89 and retired in 2000. According to Trustee Brian Hamm, Tom was instrumental in convincing UPS to locate the Air District in Louisville in 1981, rather than Dayton, Ohio.

Feb 07, 2017 - Members at K&T Switching who perform monitor work ratified a new five-year agreement on Tuesday, January 31st 2017, by a substantial margin. This was the second offer voted on by these members. After the first offer was rejected two days’ prior, the company returned to the bargaining table and improved their offer.

Feb 07, 2017 - Members at Unique-Prescotech ratified a new three-year agreement on Saturday, February 4th 2017, by a substantial margin. Some of the highlights of the new contract includes increases in wages, maintaining the current TeamCare insurance plan, and adding Good Friday as a new holiday.

Feb 06, 2017 - On Thursday, February 2nd 2017, Members at PalFleet overwhelmingly ratified a new three-year contract. The new Agreement includes substantial wage increases, expanded funeral language and a number of non-economic improvements to provide stability and fairness on the shop floor.   Perhaps the largest gain was the movement to a new health insurance plan.

Feb 02, 2017 - Less than a month after the passage of so-called “Right-to-Work” in Kentucky, the War on Workers is going national. Lawmakers in Washington D.C. have introduced National “Right-to-Work” legislation, which would force this deceptively named law on every state, including the 23 that have not passed it.

Jan 11, 2017 - Last week workers in Kentucky were betrayed by their elected state officials in Frankfort when the Kentucky State House and Senate passed so-called “Right-to-Work” and “Paycheck Protection” bills, and repealed the Prevailing Wage. It is inherently un-American to take for free that which is obtained through the hard work, money, and resources of others, and it is WRONG.

Dec 16, 2016 - Teamsters at UPS Campbellsville have rallied around a young boy named Mason Biggers this holiday season. Mason, the four-year-old nephew of part-time UPS supervisor Laura Hedgespeth, touched many hearts at this small UPS center when a prayer group in the building, led by UPS Package Car drivers, learned he was in a battle with cancer.

Nov 07, 2016 - Teamsters 89 is sorry to announce the loss of retired member Gregory Dean. A retired member of Smith’s Transfer and a longtime member of our union. His visitation will be held at Pearson’s Funeral Home at 149 Breckenridge Lane from 4-8PM on Monday. The funeral will be held at noon at Pearsons’s on Tuesday, with entombment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Oct 31, 2016 - We are saddened to announce the tragic loss of retiree James Michael Stonecipher. James was fishing near the base of Wolf Creek Dam at the time of his death. According to Fish & Wildlife, James’ boat capsized when water was discharged through a sluice gate from the dam, causing James to drown. James had one friend on board with him who survived the accident.
