In December of 2014 Congress did an unbelievable disservice to the American people by passing the Multiemployer Pension Reform Act (MPRA). MPRA allows underfunded pensions to slash the benefits for active and already retired members.
The Central States Pension Fund, to which 9,000 active and retired members of Teamsters Local 89 belong, is by far the largest of the endangered plans.

Due to the high amount of people attempting to watch this live yesterday, the Central States website was struggling to keep up and as a result many people had difficulty watching the video, or were unable to watch it at all.
On Friday, October 16th, 2015, the members at Mondelez unanimously ratified a new three-year agreement with the company. Some of the highlights of this new contract include:
No increases in health care costs to the members during the life of this agreement.
Increases in members pension plan all the first year.
Increases in hourly wages of .75 cents in the first year .
Oct 15, 2015 - Teamsters Local 89 observers at the Carhaul contract vote count have reported that the NMATA Tentative Agreement has been resoundingly rejected by the membership nationwide.
Earlier today Jack Conway, Teamsters Local 89's endorsed candidate for Governor, sent out a press release highlighting some of the ways he will stand up for working men and women in the Commonwealth.
