Teamsters across Kentucky and Southern Indiana have an important decision to make when they go to the polls on November 6th. Your Union has endorsed the following candidates.

Oct 08, 2018 - PREAMBLE – Teamsters Local 89 completely opposes the IBT’s decision to ratify and implement the UPS Contract. It is a vile, reprehensible, and abhorrent act that will damage the very foundation of our Union for decades to come. This action by the IBT will haunt the Teamsters and the Labor Movement and is a betrayal of everything we stand for.

Denis Taylor, chief-negotiator for the IBT under General President Hoffa, announced yesterday in a meeting with UPS Local Unions across the country that he intends to implement the UPS National Master Agreement (and presumably all supplements and riders) if the contract is rejected by less than a 2/3rds majority.

Local 89 UPS and UPS Freight members: In an email sent to Teamsters Local 89 the IBT informed us that the deadline to request a REPLACEMENT BALLOT is Thursday, October 4th at 5PM EST. The deadline to VOTE on the contract is Friday, October 5th at 1PM EST. The vote count for the UPS and UPS Freight contracts will take place on Friday, October 5th at 8PM EST.

On September 9, 2018 the Local 89 membership employed at Allied Ready Mix voted decisively to reject the Company’s Last, Best, & Final offer. This was not the first time the membership had expressed its collective disapproval with the Company’s proposed contract terms.

Aug 14, 2018 -  This morning the Company contacted and met with President Fred Zuckerman and confirmed that they will honor the 60% Short-Term Disability for Full-Time workers at Worldport (with no cap on the 60%) that our Committee negotiated.

Aug 13, 2018 - Louisville, KY – Over 70 Rank-and-File UPS and UPS Freight Stewards attended a meeting at Teamsters Local 89 today to review the National Master Agreement, Central Region Supplement, Louisville Air Rider, and the UPS Freight National Master Agreement. All four of these agreements received unanimous NO recommendations from the Stewards gathered.

Aug 08, 2018 - After reviewing the proposed changes, the Teamsters Local 89 E-Board has unanimously voted to recommend a no vote on the UPS Freight National Master Agreement. Below are some of the items we have concerns with. A document with all proposed changes is attached to this article.

Jul 27, 2018 - After reviewing the proposed changes, the Teamsters Local 89 E-Board has unanimously voted to recommend a no vote on the UPS National Master Agreement (NMA) and the UPS Central Region Supplement (CRS). Of primary concern in the UPS NMA is the new 22.4 Combination Driver classification, and the new wage system.

July 27, 2018 -  Attached to this article is a PDF of the proposed language changes to the 2018 UPS Louisville Air Rider. All of these changes have been summarized in full in our previous update on June 29th (read here), however this documents shows the changes in the full contract language format.
