Despite strong opposition from Teamsters 89 and many friends to working people in the House, HB 404, the UPS "Golf Cart Bill", passed on the Kentucky State House floor earlier today with a vote of 61 for and 36 against. The debate over this bill lasted for nearly two hours as many Representative's stood up and spoke against this un-safe legislation.
Feb 27, 2017 - It has come to our attention that a memo was passed out, via courier, to Kentucky legislators that included logos for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) and UPS. This memo purports that a “new compromise” has been reached in regards to House Bill 404.

In a major victory for Teamster members at Zenith Logistics, last week an arbitrator ruled in favor of Local 89 in an FMLA dispute that had arisen last year with the Company.
Feb 21, 2017 - House Bill 404, known as the “Golf Cart” Bill, was introduced into the Transportation Committee today in Frankfort.
For those who are not aware, this bill is custom tailored for UPS to allow the company to deliver packages via golf carts in residential areas, most notably during peak season.

We are sorry to announce the passing of Teresa Click. Teresa was a member of Teamsters 89 for 35 years who worked at UPS. She passed away suddenly at the age of 53.
The officers, agents, and staff of Teamsters 89 wish to express our deepest sympathies to Teresa's family as they deal with this tragic loss. Our thoughts are with you.
Feb 14, 2017 - Donald Duvall is a part time worker at UPS LCH and one of our Teamster brothers. On February 9th, he and his family lost everything in a fire that destroyed the apartment complex they lived in. They are asking for assistance to begin rebuilding their lives.

Feb 11, 2017 - Teamsters Local 89 is deeply saddened to announce that retiree Tom Trenaman passed away Saturday night at the age of 73.
Tom was a Business Agent at Teamsters 89 and retired in 2000. According to Trustee Brian Hamm, Tom was instrumental in convincing UPS to locate the Air District in Louisville in 1981, rather than Dayton, Ohio.
Feb 07, 2017 - Members at K&T Switching who perform monitor work ratified a new five-year agreement on Tuesday, January 31st 2017, by a substantial margin. This was the second offer voted on by these members. After the first offer was rejected two days’ prior, the company returned to the bargaining table and improved their offer.
Feb 07, 2017 - Members at Unique-Prescotech ratified a new three-year agreement on Saturday, February 4th 2017, by a substantial margin.
Some of the highlights of the new contract includes increases in wages, maintaining the current TeamCare insurance plan, and adding Good Friday as a new holiday.
