Aug 25, 2013 - World Class Corrugating members voted today, August 25th, to accept a new three-year contract by a 2/3 majority.

A tentative agreement has been reached for World Class Corrugating (formerly known as Wheeling Corrugating).  According to Agent Roy Reynolds, the agreement has many similarities to the prior Wheeling contract before the company’s sale.   A contract explanation meeting and vote will be held at Local 89 on Sunday, August 25 at 2pm.

Members at UPS Freight in Bowling Green are raising money for United Way by showing their basketball skills.  For a $1.00 donation, Teamsters can enter into the contest and compete against other members for a prize and bragging rights.  Member Todd Jones has hit 13 out 15 free-throws.

Kentucky 9th District Congressman John Yarmuth (D) visited Jeffboat today to answer questions and speak with members about important issues facing workers.  Congressman Yarmuth made himself available afterwards to talk with members and answer any remaining questions.

Aug 14, 2013 - The membership and staff of Local 89 are deeply saddened by the information coming out of Birmingham this morning.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the UPS flight crew and all those affected by this tragedy.

Jul 23, 2013 - Members at Android Industries in Bowling Green ratified a new three-year agreement yesterday.

The winners for 2013 Teamsters Local 89 scholarships were randomly drawn and announced at June’s General Membership Meeting.  Five girls and five boys each received a $1000 scholarship to be used for their higher educations.  The proud parents of these inspiring young people are all Teamsters Local 89 members.

Region Nine of the National Labor Relations Board has issued a complaint and “notice of hearing” regarding World Class Corrugating, the company which purchased Wheeling Corrugating last year.  Prior to the purchase, Wheeling was one of Local 89’s oldest contracts.
