Teamsters Local 89 is deeply saddened to announce the passing of retiree Timmy Thompson. Timmy passed away this morning. According to Teamsters 89 Secretary-Treasurer John Bolton, Timmy was an extremely caring and loving husband and father. His two sons, Bill and Brian, are Teamsters today in the Carhaul division.

Oct 05, 2016 - Teamsters 89 members at Android Industries in Bowling Green, Kentucky ratified a new four-year agreement on September 25th by a 98% margin.

Sep 26, 2016 - On Friday, September 23rd members at Canteen Vending ratified a new three-year agreement by a margin of seven for and one against.

Sep 20, 2016 - We at Teamsters Local 89 applaud Linda for her stand against union-busting in Kentucky, and for her dedication to protecting and fighting for the working people of the Commonwealth. We are excited to see her continue her work for another two years after she is re-elected this fall.

Sep 19, 2016 - On Thursday, September 15th, the newest Tentative Agreement for the Carhaul national contract was rejected by a count of 1,811 NO, and 1,479 YES.

Sep 13, 2016 - Thanks to Local 89’s diligence, and despite UPS’s best efforts to delay their raises for an extra year, many of these members will now be getting a raise of over $6 an hour on their proper progression date.

Sep 07, 2016 - The hard-working Teamsters men and women in Nelson County have had a long line of politicians elected in their area who care nothing about the plight of working people. It is past time for these Teamsters to have an elected representative who understands and cares about them.

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of longtime member Shelly Arnold. Shelly passed away on Sunday at the age of 58. She had been a very proud and active member of our union since 1986 when she first became an employee at American Greetings in Bardstown, Kentucky.

Aug 10, 2016 - Given the challenges facing working people and their unions in Kentucky today, it is imperative that strong, pro-labor candidates like McKenzie Cantrell are elected and sent to Frankfort to defend us from out of state interests seeking to tear us down.

At a meeting on Saturday, August 6th, Teamsters 89 Carhaul members voted to recommend rejection of the new NMATA Tentative Agreement (TA) with zero opposition. During the meeting President Fred Zuckerman and Vice President Avral Thompson discussed the TA at length, highlighting the positive and negative aspects from their perspectives.
