Jul 03, 2013 - We are pleased to report, after four requests for waivers, Local 89 officials have now won the right to reduce dues rates to provide relief for part-time workers.    The new dues rate will go in effect in August.  The new dues rates are as follows: 3hr at $11 and under The dues rate will be two times the hourly rate plus $1 for the Ohio Strike Fund.

On Sunday June 2nd, President Fred Zuckerman and Freight Agent Kevin Oliva met with ABF members to review the proposed 2013 agreement.  The Executive Board as well as Oliva believe this proposal to be highly concessionary and are not recommending it for ratification by the membership.

Jun 03, 2013 - For the fourth time, Local 89 President Fred Zuckerman has requested a reduced dues rate for part-time UPS employees.  The request comes after IBT General Secretary-Treasurer Ken Hall sent a letter to President Zuckerman and the membership stating he now supports Local 89’s long time position on reducing the dues burden of part-time workers.

VERY IMPORTANT BALLOT INFO...PLEASE PASS ON...  AIR DISTRICT TEAMSTERS: YOU WILL HAVE TO VOTE AGAIN!  Secretary-Treasurer Ken Hall sent Local 89 a letter stating the IBT has sent incorrect ballots to Air District workers.  Therefore, the IBT is now requiring you to VOTE AGAIN.

Applications for Local 89 scholarships for sons and daughters of ACTIVE members of the local union are now being accepted. Five scholarships will be awarded to male students and five scholarships will be awarded to female students. Each scholarship is for the sum of $1,000.

The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has issued a formal complaint against Voith Industrial Services alleging the company committed unfair labor practices when it retaliated against two employees for engaging in “concerted’ activity.
